Exhausted by chronic, undiagnosed itch? This Phase 2 study could be for you
The Chronic Itch Study is evaluating the effects of an investigational medication in adults with chronic pruritus of unknown origin (CPUO). Researchers also want to learn how the investigational medication works in the body and the effect it has on CPUO. You may be eligible if you:
- Are 18 years of age or older
- Have experienced pruritus affecting at least 4 body areas for the past 6 months or more
If you’re able to participate, you’ll receive the following at no cost:
- The study medication
- Study-related tests and procedures
- Reimbursement for study-related costs
What does study participation involve?
- Enrolling in the study: You’ll be given all the details about participation, including potential benefits and risks. Then, the study team will perform tests to determine if this study is a good fit for you.
- Study duration: You will be in the study for up to 28 weeks through a 2 to 4-week screening period, a 16-week intervention (treatment) period, and an 8-week follow-up period.
- Study tests and procedures: There are many tests in this study, including blood tests, ECGs, and complete physical examinations. The study team can explain these tests and their frequency in more detail.
- Study medication: The investigational medication will be compared to a placebo, which does not have any active medication in it. You will be randomly assigned to receive either the investigational medicine or a placebo by subcutaneous (SC) injection.
